A Florida gem thief swiped with over $700,000 earrings and swallowed the evidence just before his arrest near Orlando last week, officials said.

Jaythan Gilder, 32, will be at Tiffany & Co in a Millennia mall on February 26th. He told employees that before representing “professional athletes,” he “shows some high-value jewelry, including two pairs of earrings worth $769,500.”

Surveillance footage appeared to show Guilder sitting at a table inside the store, with two pairs of earrings and a necklace in front of him. He then grabbed his earrings and took off, footage showed.

The Florida Highway Patrol caught up with Guilder and “seemed to swallow some objects believed to be stolen earrings,” police said.

Orlando police have released an x-ray image that appears to show foreign objects on the suspect’s abdomen.

Guilder stripped off a “similar robbery” at Tiffany & Company in Woodlands, Texas in 2022, and he “has 48 separate warrants from Colorado,” police added.

He was still in custody in Orange County Wednesday. It was not immediately clear whether he had hired a lawyer or was assigned to him.

An Orlando Police spokesman declined to comment Wednesday when NBC News asked if the stolen earrings had been recovered.

Police “weekly there is no additional information to share,” a department representative said.
