The San Bernardino County knife-armed woman threatened her life and announced that she was shot by police earlier this year after illuminating the inside of a burning vehicle at a gas station.
According to a serious case briefing released by the Colton Police Department, 911 dispatchers received a call from an employee at a Starbucks Coffee Shop at 1181 S. Mt. Mt. Vernon Avenue, just before 11:30pm on February 12, when they reported a “barren woman” outside a knife-armed door.
In camera footage covered in the body of responding officers, officers can be seen talking to a woman. This is currently identified as a 36-year-old Riverside resident Leandra Michelle Gererrero and an unidentified man, informing her that her actions are scaring store employees.
The man who appears to be accompanying Guerrero said he was taking her home.
An hour later at 12:20am on February 13th, Colton PD received the report of a woman armed with a knife at an Alco gas station at 1240 E. Washington Street, about half a mile from Starbucks.
In that example, the caller reported that Guerrero, still armed with a knife, was out and walking around the store, approaching the customer with a gas pump. Surveillance footage from the business showed she was trying to incorporate it into her clients’ vehicles as well.

“She’s trying to burn something in the car,” officers say, “she’s trying to cut her throat” before reporting to send out.
Police said the 36-year-old, armed with a knife, urged him to shoot both the firearm and what appeared to be a stun gun dropped to the ground, leaving the vehicle at officers.
Guerrero was hit by a gunshot and sat down before kneeling to the ground.
Police provided medical assistance to the woman, but the fire that caught fire in a car not too far from the gas pump was safely wiped out.
Paramedics responded to the scene and rushed the 26-year-old woman to the hospital where she was listed in stable condition.
The knife was also recovered at the scene, police said.
No officers or other citizens were injured during the incident. Guerrero was eventually taken into custody and booked on charges of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, carjacking, robbery and arson.
The Sheriff’s Department and the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office are investigating shootings involving officers. Colton PD also conducts its own internal review of the incident.
