The new referendum shows that Americans are split into President Donald Trump deploying in the second-most populous city of the National Guard and the US Marines.
With the aim of erasing the escalating protests in Los Angeles caused by the immigrant raids carried out by the ice at his administration’s direction, Trump sent out the National Guard and even mobilised the Marines. The unrest and movements of the president have been dominating national headlines for a week.
The 41% of adults/George Mason University vote nationwide questioned by the Washington Post supported the president’s move, 44% said they were opposed and 15% said they were uncertain.
The investigation was conducted on Tuesday and raised questions among more than 1,000 adults across the country.

Support for the president’s actions among California respondents was 32%, with 58% opposed.
The vote also highlighted the large expected partisan disparities.

Eight percent of Republicans surveyed support the president and Marines deploying on LA streets, with over three-quarters of Democrats making a thumbs up on Trump’s move.
A third of independents approved the introduction of the military, almost opposed to half, with one in five uncertain.

Trump took control of the California National Guard without allowing Democrats’ government, Gavin Newsom. This is the first time in 60 years that the president has held a federal national security force without the demands of the governor.
Leading his resistance to Trump’s move, Newsom has taken legal action to reverse order.

This week, a U.S. District judge ruled Trump’s move was illegal and ordered control of the National Guard forces to be returned to the newspapers. However, the federal court of appeals quickly temporarily blocked the judgment of a lower court judge.

The survey also shows that Americans are split on whether Americans support the protest (39%) or against (40%). Over one in five (21%) were unsure of their support or opposition.

70% of Democrats – but only 39% of independents and only 6% of Republicans support the purpose of protesters.
Polls show that Americans are also divided as to whether the protest was mostly peaceful (35%) or mostly violent (37%).
