Police said two gang members were arrested on suspicion of fear, temptation and temptation, and were targeting local business owners.
The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Alexis Hernandez and 36-year-old Gustavo Maldonado.
The investigation began on January 13th when the business owner told the Pomona police that the gang members had requested money from them, threatening harm to their families and businesses.
The fear tor reportedly has been going on for several months, with the suspects likely asking hundreds of dollars a month for “protection.”
In one instance, the victim said the suspect forced the employee into the vehicle and demanded that he withdraw a large amount of money from the ATM.
On January 31, officers responded to reports that a victim was being threatened in the 1000 block of E. Third Street in Pomona. When the authorities arrived at the location, they found Hernandez and Maldonado trying to enter the building.
After questioning them, police determined that they were allegedly threatening the victim while they were stealing from their business. They were arrested and booked at Pomona City Jail.
On February 4th, 14 counts were filed against Maldonado and Hernandez, including lawsuits with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and criminal street gang conspiracy, trickery and terror.
