Forever 21, one of the most well-known clothing brands in the United States, has laid off nearly 700 workers in California and Pennsylvania and has closed its Golden State headquarters.
The announcement came through several warning notices submitted to both states last week.
California Forever 21, which is scheduled to close, is located in Orange, Riverside, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Montclair, Santa Ana, Lakewood and Cerritos.
Retail Dive reports that it will close its Los Angeles headquarters, which has more than 350 workers.
A spokesman for Catalyst Brands, the parent company of Forever 21, said the company “continues to explore strategic options, continue to explore ways to reduce overall operational costs and optimize store footprint.”
The liquidation sales began last month as the company began preparing for its second bankruptcy filing and reported by several business news outlets as it sought potential buyers. Forever 21 reportedly will settle the entire 350-storey chain if no qualified buyers are found.
At that height, Forever 21 operated at least 800 locations around the world.
