Over 2 million baked goods distributed nationwide have been recalled this year, as Listeria monocytogens could be present.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a report on 60 different bakery products, from brownsburg, Indiana-based FGF, LLC’s donuts to cake rings. The FDA reported that the recall was voluntarily launched on January 7th due to the possibility of listeria monocytogen present.
The FDA has given this recall a “Class II” ranking. This means that the recalled product can “stimulate or medically reversible health effects.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Listeria poses a risk to pregnant, very young, over 65 years old, or those with a weak immune system. People infected with Listeria may exhibit symptoms such as fever, headache, confusion, or seizures.
The voluntary recall of FGF, LLC, concerns more than 2,017,600 cases totalling within 12/13/2024 distributed nationwide and across Canada and within previous expiration dates. Each product was classified as being recalled because it has potential listeria. The complete product list is as follows:
