Prepared for parliamentary delegation hype when deportation begins to rise

Congress members visited Guantanamo Bay last week amid a new focus on military bases. This is currently being used to hold illegal immigrants.

President Donald Trump aims to have up to 30,000 people in the United States illegally held in facilities before facing deportation, with the goal of using facilities primarily for “the worst criminal aliens that threaten Americans,” the president said.

“Yesterday, I saw first hand the incredible work being done by our military personnel to lead a delegation to Guantanamo Bay and keep our country safe,” Sen. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said in a statement.

“During our visit, we met with military personnel and law enforcement officials who played an important role in promoting the removal of some of the worst offenders. Border security is national security and we are proud of the role the Department of Defense played in protecting our country and ending invasions at the tropical border,” he continued.

As of last week, around 20 immigrants have been at the naval base, but more than 250 have been at the base since Trump’s policies were announced. Most of the 20 people were considered “high threats,” Fox News reported. About 200 were Venezuelans and were subsequently deported.

“The visit to Guantanamo Bay Navy Station was an eye-opening experience that provided incredible insight into the complexities of immigration policy and the importance of border security,” DN.C. Rep. Don Davis said in a statement.

“A direct understanding of the deportation process is important to informing you of your decision. I fled with a better perspective, as well as a deeper appreciation for service members and federal workers who work tirelessly to protect Americans,” Davis added.

Visits are due to further efforts to strengthen deportation, whether through law enforcement measures or at your own choice.

The “CBP Home” app was launched this week with the goal of bringing people to self-denial if they illegally enter the country, a major shift from the “CBP One” app used to handle immigrants during the Biden administration. Millions of people encountered the CBP illegally cross-national cross-country during the last administration.

The encounters have dropped slightly following an executive order from Biden last year, but the number of unrests has exceeded 8,000.

“It is clear that Guantanamo Bay is operational and has the capacity to deport these countries, and is working with this initiative, including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. The strong commitment of Congressional Republicans should continue and increase without interruption.”

The delegation’s visit comes at the end of February when Defense Secretary Pete Hegses toured Guantanamo Bay. The base holds both the “Immigration Operations Centre” and the detention center best known for hosting suspicious terrorists after September 11, 2001.
