In a final push toward the imminent start of the Trump administration, President Biden is expected to announce an additional $1.25 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
This large aid package includes significant military supplies, including for the nation’s advanced surface-to-air missile system and Hawk air defense system. The package also includes a Stinger missile and 155mm and 105mm artillery shells.
Officials plan to make an announcement on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

The latest funding comes after Biden earlier this month announced a $988 million aid package for Ukraine “to ensure we have the tools we need to win the fight against Russian aggression.” Ta.

The Biden administration is committed to providing as much aid as possible to Ukraine before Trump takes office in January.
During the campaign, President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance harshly criticized the Biden administration’s support for Ukraine following Russia’s 2022 invasion.

President Trump also said he would end the war before taking office, without providing details. Vance suggested earlier this year that the best way to end the war was for Ukraine to cede land occupied by Russia and establish a demilitarized zone, a suggestion that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy rejected. I flatly refused.

This latest announcement marks the administration’s 22nd aid package through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

In early December, House Speaker Mike Johnson rejected the administration’s request for Congress to approve $24 billion in additional funding.
Johnson previously said: “It’s not Joe Biden’s place to make that decision now.” “We have a newly elected president and we are going to wait it out and follow the instructions of the new commander-in-chief in everything. So we do not expect the funds for Ukraine to come in right now. do not have.”
