President Donald Trump renewed his pledge to clean up the city of Washington, D.C. on Friday, saying he would have “crime-free capital.”
“We’re cleaning the city, we’re cleaning this wonderful capital,” the president said. “And we’re not going to commit a crime, we’re not going to support it.”
He noted that since returning to the White House, he would need to order roads with clean tents and graffiti on his state visit.

“Indian Prime Minister Modi, the French President and all these people, the British Prime Minister, came to see me over the last week and half, and when they came in, I ran the route,” he said. “I didn’t want them to show me to the tent. I didn’t want them to see the graffiti. I didn’t want them to see the broken barriers or potholes on the road.
“We want to have a capital that can be a world story,” Trump added. “We’re going to do that for the city.”

Trump praised the Democrat, D.C. Mayor, for working with his administration.

“We’re working with the administration and if the administration can’t do its job, we’ll have to get it back and run through the federal government,” Trump said. “But I hope the administration can be made. So far, it’s very good. So far, they’ve been doing very well. The mayor has done a good job.”
“We’re going to have crime-free capital,” he added. “When people come here, they won’t be robbed, shot or raped. They’ll once again have crime-free capital.
