President Donald Trump told Fox News he fought back against Democratic government’s Gavin News claim that the president had not called him recently, speaking to the governor for about 16 minutes on Saturday.
Trump told Fox News on a trip to Fort Bragg, North Carolina on Tuesday, but Newsom didn’t make his first call over the weekend, but he received his second call and the pair spoke for about 16 minutes on Saturday.
“I essentially said, ‘Put his ass in gear’ and told him to stop the riots that were out of control,” Trump said Tuesday. “More than anything, this shows him as a liar. I said I’d never called.”

White House Communications Director Stephen Chen added Fox Digital in a comment Tuesday afternoon. “The president told Gavin Newsom to get his butt in gear. The governor clearly decided to get tired of the violent rioters instead of protecting the Californians.

“A day ago. I called him and told him he (he) had to do a better job. He did a bad job,” Trump said.
In X’s response post, Newsom claimed that Trump did not call him or leave his voicemail.
“There were no phones, there were no voicemails. Americans should be wary of not knowing who he is talking to with the President deploying Marines on our streets.”
“The call comes from three days ago,” the governor’s press was added to X following a White House pushback to Newsom’s claim that Trump had not called.
Newsom’s office added in a Fox News Digital Tuesday email: “The governor’s comments are obviously in regards to the president’s comments “one day ago” this morning.”

Los Angeles fell into violent riots on Friday when federal immigration officials gathered in the city to carry out an assault targeting illegal immigrants. But local leaders such as Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Newsom quickly condemned the attack on public statements, offering words of support for the state’s illegal immigration.
Protests against the attack quickly fell to violence as the mob targeted and announced attacks on federal law enforcement officials.

Trump announced Saturday that he was deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to help him quell the violence. The Trump administration also deployed hundreds of US Marines on Monday evening to respond to anti-immigrant disruptions as violence continued.

“If you ‘sent the troops’ to Los Angeles the past three nights, then it’s going to be a once-beautiful and great city burning to the ground now,” Trump posted to The Truth Society on Tuesday morning.
