President Donald Trump offered the couple’s advice to French President Emmanuel Macron, pushing the French leader into his face after video footage of Macron’s wife Bridget was released.
“Make sure the door remains closed. That’s not good,” Trump told reporters Friday. “No, I told him, and he’s fine, they’re fine. Two really good guys I know well. And I don’t know what it was, but I know him well, and they’re fine.”

Trump’s comments came out of the plane when Macron and his wife landed Sunday as part of their tour of Southeast Asia after video footage from the Associated Press appeared. The video depicts Macron at the plane door, with a woman’s hand appearing to stab him in the face.
The couple, who have been married since 2007, were subsequently photographed leaving the aircraft together.
Meanwhile, Macron’s office later said the couple was engaged in a playful moment at the time of the incident.

“It was the last moment the president and his wife were suppressing by riding a carriage before the start of the trip. It was an accomplice moment. That was all that was needed to give a conspiracy theorists ammunition,” Macron’s office said in a statement Tuesday.

The French leader met his wife, Bridget, but was a high school student, who was a married teacher.
Macron visited Trump at the White House in February. He was the first European leader to visit the White House after Trump’s second term.
