President-elect Trump said Monday he would consider pardoning New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is the subject of a federal investigation on corruption and bribery charges.

“Yes, we will,” President Trump said at a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. “I think he was treated very unfairly.”

The federal indictment accuses Adams of soliciting illegal campaign contributions from foreign entities and falsifying a paper trail to conceal them. He is accused of defrauding taxpayers of $10 million over the past decade and of frequently taking advantage of free or deeply discounted vacations funded by foreign benefactors.

President Trump added, “I don’t know the facts.” I’ll definitely take a look.

FOX News Digital has reached out to Adams’ office.

In his remarks, President Trump downplayed allegations that Adams received free luxury travel and airline upgrades from Turkish authorities.

“Was it upgraded on the plane years ago?” Trump said. “I doubt if there’s anyone here who hasn’t been upgraded.”

“I feel like I got an upgrade on the plane years ago, and I know that probably everyone here got an upgrade,” he added. “They see you’re an All-Star and say, ‘We want to promote that guy from NBC,’ which would mean you spend the rest of your life in prison,” he said.

There are about 60,000 ‘criminal’ immigrants in New York City homes: report

President Trump said Adams was targeted because of his strong stance on illegal immigration and the impact it has on New York City.

“I said, ‘He’s going to be indicted,'” Trump said. “And a few months later, he was indicted.”

Last week, Adams met with Tom Homan, President Trump’s pick for border czar, to discuss the immigration crisis. After the meeting, Mr. Adams said the discussion was very productive.

“We have heard from the next head of ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) that we are committed to protecting people who commit acts of violence, and those who repeat acts of violence among innocent New Yorkers and immigrant asylum seekers. It’s about having the same desire to pursue,” Adams said. he told reporters. “That’s what I heard from him. I was happy to hear that because we share the same desire.”

Mr. Adams denies any wrongdoing. In November, he rejected claims that he was working with President Trump to obtain a pardon.

He was asked about it during an appearance on “The View.”

“I don’t think there’s anything more difficult than not being able to defend yourself in public,” he said, dodging a question about Trump.

“Listen, I’ve said it many times: I’ve done nothing wrong,” he continued.
