We are beginning to learn more about the victims killed and injured when a pickup truck driver crashed into a crowd in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.
Two of the victims were Princeton University graduates and were together at the time of the attack.
Tiger Beck’s alma mater, St. Thomas More Catholic High School in Louisiana, confirmed that the 27-year-old former Princeton football star was among those killed.
Beck is an Ivy League kick returner who played at the university from 2016 to 2018.
“He was a Tiger in every way: a fierce competitor with boundless energy, a beloved teammate, and a caring friend. Our last conversation was during his time at Princeton. The FBI identified the suspect behind the wheel as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar.
Jabbar, a U.S. citizen and military veteran, was killed in a shootout with police.
Investigators said Jabar’s rented white truck had an ISIS flag on the back when he bypassed police lines and intentionally plowed into innocent bystanders.
The FBI said it found an improvised explosive device (IED) in Jabbar’s truck and around the French Quarter.
“We do not believe that Mr. Jabbar is solely responsible. We are actively pursuing all leads, including his known associates,” said Alecia Duncan of the FBI’s New Orleans Division. spoke.
