A heart attack caused the death of professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, authorities said Thursday a week after the larger entertainer who died in Florida.
His cause of death was officially listed as “acute myocardial infarction,” a technical term for heart attacks, according to medical examiners in District 6, investigating deaths in Pinellas and Pasco counties.
Hogan’s way of death was called “nature” and a pathologist who focused on wrestler’s “atrial fibrillation” and the history of leukemia.
Clearwater police and firefighters rushed to their home just a week ago at 9:51 a.m. to answer a call for “cardiac arrest,” the city said in a statement.
The first responder took the 71-year-old to Morton Factory Hospital, where he was declared dead at 11:17am, police said.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Jean Borea, revolutionized wrestling, changing from niche entertainment to mainstream monsters.
His antics and top performances covering his shirt led to the “Furukamania” trend of the 1980s. It reached its peak in 1987 when he slammed the giant superstar Andre on the canvas of Wrestler Mania III.
