Protesters were seen clashing with police and remaining National Guard members during an apparent anti-ice demonstration in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday night.

Although details of the demonstration are limited, the Los Angeles Police Department’s central department issued a traffic advisory on social media at 8:41pm in the Alameda Street area between Temple Street and Aliso Street, in order to “the demonstrators are probably on the road.”

Authorities didn’t immediately say how many protesters there were in the area at the time, but the video provided by the major news stringer service late at night shows dozens of obvious protesters scattered throughout the road, clashing with LA police officers in front of a federal metropolitan detention center.

Despite the apparent tension between protesters and officials, there were no reports of tear gas or illegal assembly declarations. It appeared that numerous LAPD officials could form a line of skirmishes and push the protesters aside, but at one point the footage shows the members of the National Guard lined up in tactical gear with shields lined up. It doesn’t look like the National Guard had used any force in the situation.

It is unclear why it led to the relatively small LA protest on Wednesday night. Knn said reports of assault on federal officials defending the detention center escalated the rally and derived a possibility of arresting one person, but authorities have not confirmed or commented on the information.

Additionally, unconfirmed reports from social media users and community leaders highlighted sightings of immigration enforcement activities in the LA area, including Hawthorn, Beverly Hills and Santa Ana. KTLA has contacted the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement to comment on these reports.
