Health officials are advised the public to avoid swimming, surfing or playing in the ocean on several Los Angeles County beaches due to rising bacterial levels above state health standards.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a warning about:
The entire swimming area of Walnut Creek in Paradise Cove, the entire swimming area of Mother Beach in Marina del Rey, move up and down the coast 100 yards from the Castle Rock Storm Drainage in Topanga County Beach, which is 100 yards up and down the coast from Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica
Officials said it could cause illness, especially in young children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems.
Still, there is positive news. The department has lifted previous warnings at Topanga Canyon Beach, Malibu, after water quality test results showed improvement.
For the latest updates on beach condition, residents can call the 24-hour beach advisory hotline at (800) 525-5662 or visit publicchealth.lacounty.gov/beach.
