Southern California Police this week warned community members that officers will use the Orange County closed primary school campus to provide active shooter training on June 23rd.
“We don’t want to think about the worst things happening at school, but we understand that important events can happen everywhere,” said Seal Beach Police Chief Michael Henderson.
The active shooter response exercise will be held on Monday at McGaugh Elementary School in Seal Beach. This is because the semester has already ended and there are no students on campus, the police department said in a news release.
“During this training exercise, the community may hear screams and screams, simulate gunfire sounds, and exercise alerts against amplified audio systems and sirens around McGaugh Elementary School,” the news release said.
Officials said the sign would be posted to notify the public of the training exercise.
“We are truly grateful for the partnership we have with Los Alamitos Unified School District, McGaugh Principal Wendy Wood and the community that supports this important training,” Henderson said.
