Just two weeks after his death, music legend Quincy Jones was posthumously awarded an honorary Oscar at the 15th Annual Governors Awards.
The annual awards ceremony is just one of many star-studded events leading up to the Oscars.
Four of Jones’ seven children, Rashida Jones, Martina Jones, Quincy Jones III and Kenya Kinski-Jones, attended the ceremony Sunday night at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. , accepted this honor on behalf of Jones.

Rashida and her siblings gave an emotional speech praising their father, leaving many in the audience teary-eyed. She said he was “really excited to be attending” the ceremony.
“He has a lot of friends in this room. In fact, he probably has them in every room to be honest,” she laughed. “Because wherever he went, he made connections with everyone. Real connections. He had this supernatural gift for people. He stayed present and was curious. He knew how to keep going and stay loving and was really, really, really going to be here with us tonight.”
She assured Jones’ friends that the 28-time Grammy winner’s spirit was certainly in the room, drawing applause from the crowd.

The Parks and Recreation actress revealed that her father had been working on her acceptance speech until last month, and then read it out in his own words.
She added that she’s sure her father would like to thank Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson, who presented the award to the Jones family.
“I’m sure he’ll say, ‘You two look beautiful, baby!'”
Rashida said it was “in some ways difficult” for her family to attend the ceremony, but she wanted to celebrate her father’s “beautiful life and career.”
“His music has literally defined an entire century of culture across genres, including jazz, disco, film, pop-R&B, and hip-hop. But the true essence of his music is that all his music… “It means that his love is poured into us,” she said. It was a gift from him to us. ”
She then urged the audience to listen to his music because there was “so much to hear.”
