The wife of a celebrity hairstylist spent the rest of her life in prison, where her lover was forced to kill her husband in what was supposed to be misunderstood as a home invasion and robbery.
Monica Semenri, 53, was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Monday for the brutal stab wounds of her husband, Fabio Sementeri, 49, at a Woodland Hills home eight years ago. A ju umpire in April convicted her murder and conspiracy to commit murder on the deck of Woodland Hills, and one of her daughters later found him injured in a pool of blood.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald Cohen refused a bid to be sentenced by Semerilli’s legal team to be sentenced to 25 years before he sentenced him.
Fabio Sementelli suffered multiple wounds to his face, Jawline, neck, chest and thighs, and the fact that a $8,000 Rolex Watch remained on his wrists confusing the detective on the left.
Crime Scene Blood soon ties with Robert Baker, a convicted sex offender and former porn star who began his relationship with Monica Sementi after serving as a racquetball coach at the West Hills Fitness Club. Prosecutors portrayed Sementilli as the “mastermind” behind the murder, but while she stood to win $1.6 million on life insurance payments, Baker stood up at a two-month trial, claiming he killed the hair mogul for love.
“I killed him because I wanted her,” Baker testified at her trial. “She had nothing to do with that.”
Baker was previously convicted of the murder of Fabio Semenrilli and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Beth Silverman presented video evidence showing that Monica Centilli looked at the area’s live feed just before the attack, and that Baker would have a clear path to her husband. Mitzi Roberts, a veteran murder detective at the Los Angeles Police Department, testified that Sementilli and Baker exchanged 95 messages via an encrypted messaging app called Viber on the day of the murder.
Sementilli denied all wrongdoing and publicly grieved her husband (an executive at hair care company Wella). Silverman said the pair had sexted during her husband’s funeral.
Baker’s accomplice, Christopher Austin, also testified about the prosecution, telling him that Baker had ordered him to murder her husband. Austin, a former Oregon probation officer, said he never spoke directly to Monica, but Baker revealed that he wanted his girlfriend to “go” her husband.
“Everything he did after he received the text message. Austin testified. “I hadn’t heard him talk to her on the phone…but it all happened in turn.”
Defence counsel Leonard Levine argued that “adultery is not murder… everything she did was to protect the case, not hide the murder.” He calls Baker “Svengari” and says that Semenriri has made “the biggest mistake in her life.”
