Officials confirmed that a 92-year-old San Bernardino County resident was killed in a raging home fire Saturday morning.
Multiple calls to the home and backyard were in flames and entered the San Bernardino County Fire Center before 2am, the department said in a statement posted to X.
The crew responded to a violent fire involving a home in the 2800 block of North State Street in Muscoy.
Upon arrival, he was found heavy smoke and flames coming from behind a single-storey detached house.
Additionally, firefighters learned that an elderly man lived in an accessory residence (ADU) behind the property.
However, crews were unable to conduct a search first due to severe fire conditions and “a huge fire that involved ADUs,” the department said.
Footage from the scene showed the crew bouncing around 15-20 feet tall, burning multiple sheds, vehicles and crews burning around debris.

“When the fire was knocked down, the crew discovered the body of a 92-year-old man inside,” the department said. “Sadly, he was declared dead at the scene.”
Authorities did not immediately identify the victim, but added that the estimated property damage was around $350,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
