Raising Canes planned to file a lawsuit Thursday against the LA Conservation Society over how it plans to preserve the structure if it succeeds in taking over operations. However, it submitted a letter to the Cultural Heritage Commission saying it no longer intends to do so.
“We have heard the community’s concerns and are in the process of discussing the future of the site with Norms,” Raising Canes said in a short letter.
The chicken-focused chain had been discussing the possibility of taking over Nome restaurant on La Cienega Boulevard near Beverly Grove. Raising Cane’s owns the land where Norm rests.
The Nome store, which has been open for more than 60 years, is a designated historic landmark, so Raising Cane’s had to make a presentation on how to preserve the historic building.
Raising Cane’s has not said what it plans to do with the property moving forward or whether it will continue to lease it to Nome.
