First Fox: Rep. Ralph Norman, Rs.C. is calling on the states to take part in the growth of the fight over the country’s parliamentary map, turning his attention to the Democrats in his delegation.
Norman told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that he hopes the South Carolina Legislature will redraw the district’s lines. He argued that it was more in line with the Republican majority in the Capitol and the state Senate Palmetto.
“There’s a Republican supermajority in South Carolina. Let’s use them to generate more competition in Congressional seats. There’s no doubt that Republicans will be successful in every part of our state.”
Norman, who is running for governor, said he would make South Carolina seats in the House “more competitive” and “moving the home delegation from 6-1 to 7-0.”

“It will increase Republican control over Congress and help President Trump pass his agenda. All votes will count towards conservative speaker Mike Johnson, not Hakem Jeffries, a liberal speaker in New York City,” Norman said.
And although he didn’t give further details on what the map would look like, he was a lonely Democrat, longtime Congressman Jim Clyburn, Ds.C. It was mentioned by the name.
“Jim Clyburn is a good guy and I respect him. But he’s a liberal Democrat who helped put Joe Biden in the White House,” Norman said. “That’s not a necessary expression for South Carolina.”
Clyburn is certainly a close ally of former President Joe Biden. His support was significant when Biden won the 2020 Democratic primary in South Carolina. This was a decisive victory to put Biden in front of a busy race.
He has also represented South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District since 1993.

The 6th Congressional District was the first gerrymander to give Black South Carolinians a large representation in the early 1990s, becoming the only majority black district in the state.
However, the map of South Carolina’s legislature has seen several partisan battles in recent years.
In 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling that said a repainting of a Republican-led district line was unfairly diluted, primarily in South Carolina’s First Congressional District, Clyburn’s First Congressional District.
The conservative majority of the High Court ruled 6-3, finding that the district could be legally supported as it was redrawn along the line of partisanship rather than race.
The rezoning follows a US census taken every 10 years to account for changes in the population of various states.

The call for Norman to spin again comes after a push that Texas Republicans will create a new Congress map that will give the House up to five new seats.
It is igniting political fires across the country as liberal nations like New York and California pledge to follow suit.
There is also discussion in several states about potentially redrawing district lines.
Fox News Digital, as well as representatives from the South Carolina General Assembly, contacted Clyburn’s campaign for comments.
