With the final real ID deadline looming this week, a House Republican lawmaker told Fox News Digital that he believes it is an “unnecessary” burden for Americans.
“I personally don’t support real IDs. I don’t think it’s necessary to keep us safe,” R-Mo said. Rep. Eric Burrison told Fox News Digital in an interview.
The Missouri Republican said his state made it “very easy” to comply with the May 7th deadline next year, but he suggested not agreeing to it.

“You see, I think this was implemented from the 9/11 committee recommendation. But all of the terrorists here had passports, meaning they had more than a state ID.
“It is once again the government that sees the opportunity for government to make life more difficult for American citizens.”
The Real ID was created by law in 2005, but the federal government delayed its implementation multiple times in 2022.

Then, you will need an actual ID in areas where travel by domestic airlines or where federal identification is required, rather than a regular state-issued license.
Especially if you have a US passport, you don’t need to have an actual ID itself.
The Trump administration has argued that acts on actual IDs will help the White House crack down on millions of illegal immigrants since President Donald Trump last took office.
However, scrambling to reach deadlines has led to longer routes on DMVS, with some states opening emergency situations at airports and elsewhere to deal with the surge in people seeking bookings.
Instead of a state ID, you will need an actual ID for your domestic air travel. (Fox News)

“Uncomplex passengers may expect waiting times or additional measures at the airport. If they are illegal aliens without an actual ID, the only way they are allowed to fly is if they are self-contact,” the TSA said.
Fox News Digital has contacted the TSA to comment on Burlison’s remarks.
