Three months after the devastating LA County wildfires, the Altadena property is expected to be the first home to issue a reconstruction permit.
The current empty lot along North Olive Avenue will be the first of many homes waiting for reconstruction, where payments are pending.
Brian Wong, CEO of San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, says the nonprofit will support homeowners of Eton Fireburn scars in the reconstruction process.
“We want hundreds of construction,” Wong said. “We are extremely excited that the county has gone through the process to get the family back home.”
More than a year ago, Habitat for Humanity will build a house waiting for its first permit and build it again, according to Wong.
“These are family owners, so we are trying to do whatever we can to support all the families in the area, and at this point it is not just a habitat family.
The CEO hopes the permit will create a pathway for other homeowners to follow.
“This is just the beginning. It’s the first and we’ve done this permit before. We know the way. We aim to open the locks and bring people back into the community as soon as possible,” Wong said.
The deadline for the entry form is April 15th to get help with debris removal.
