The house on the hill overlooking Whittier has become annoyed by neighbors who have a constant party.
A neighbor in the 14,000 block of Summit Drive is tired of a late-night party thrown into a nearby home. Events are often promoted on social media, with hundreds of party attendees taking part.
Residents say they have been dealing with headaches for about two years. Since then, countless police visits have been made at the facility, resulting in numerous quotes among property owners. But that simply wasn’t enough for the owner to block the home’s green space lighting.
To finally end the issue, the city ended its operation last summer, seeking a court decision. An interim injunction was issued in July 2024, but the owner repeatedly violated it.
“The interim injunction said “no parties.” Well, after that, I’ll guess what happened,” Mayor Joe Vinatieri said.
However, the city has not retreated from the ongoing issues and has announced that an LA County judge has appointed a recipient to manage the property.
“I think it’s a responsibility to see what happens and the receivers come in and make sure there’s no more parties,” Vinatieri said.
For Vinatieri, it is not just a peaceful and quiet issue for neighboring homes, but also for the safety of the city. The mayor said that fewer people in the area mean that there is less chance of a disaster attack and it is easy to maintain the fire risk in the area.
“What happens if the party is going on and someone does something? A cigarette or something,” he said. “Make sure there is no Eton Canyon is safe for the people in our community. There is no Pacific Pallisade in Whittier here.”
