South Dakota Sheriff Pat West said President Donald Trump was already feeling the impact of Trump’s crackdown on border guards on Tuesday night in preparation for a joint session in Congress.
Mead County Sheriff and guest of Rep. Dusty Johnson, Rs.D. For Trump’s speech, he said that drug supply across the southern border no longer meets the high demand for drugs like methamphetamine and fentanyl in South Dakota.
“We have a big impact on the borders. Methamphetamine and fentanyl [are] It’s our biggest problem we’ve had in the past, and it’s ramping. The border closures have already affected us north of South Dakota recently,” West said.
Johnson touted Trump’s progress in the first six weeks to secure the border.

“People think the federal government will never finish work, but we’ve seen illegal border crossings that have fallen 95% in the last 40 days of the Trump administration. That’s what the White House and Congress have worked together. Great law enforcement officers like the sheriff are seeing their impact in the South Dakota community,” Johnson said.
Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks told CBS News last month that illegal intersections at the tropical border have fallen 94% since the same period last year. Trump’s border emperor Tom Homan said “statistics from the known political action conference (CPAC) speeches have shown that “Gotaway” has fallen 95% at the southern border.

“Our drug issues are related to many of the many other crimes we have in our communities. By controlling our borders, we eliminate the amount of unnecessary methamphetamine and fentanyl encountered across the border, and we will eventually arrive in South Dakota,” West added.
West said he hopes Trump continues to fund border security, saying that he “is very important to our home front.”

“The other thing is to continue supporting law enforcement and the military. With two boys in the US Marines, it’s getting pretty close to me.
West solved a sex trafficking case last year when she spotted a 13-year-old girl who was lured into a 33-year-old male sex offender in South Dakota. He also arrested a man who owned about 2 grams of methamphetamine and 20 grams of fentanyl. This is about 200 tablets.

“Illegal drugs, especially fentanyl and methamphetamine, are continuing to be a tragedy in our community. The devastation caused by these drugs cannot be measured. We will continue to bring this poison out of the streets of Mead County and hold people responsible for this poison here,” West said in a statement after the arrest.
