Lokita filed a lawsuit last month against the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and its sheriff William Redman, alleging that it had continued to refuse to comply with the federal immigrant detainee’s requests. The lawsuit alleges that between March and September 2024, nine detainee requests from the ice were not respected, preventing ice’s efforts to arrest illegal immigrants in the county.
