Following complaints from residents regarding the sale of illegal products at local smoke shops, inspections have begun along with the California Department of Tax and Fees Management, along with the Redondo Beach Police Department.
On March 6th, authorities inspected a smoke shop in the 2400 block of 190th Avenue and discovered many items for sale in California. Among the seized products were seasoned tobacco and nicotine, along with other illegal cannabis items.
The same item was also recovered during another inspection on March 19th at a smoke shop in the 2200 block of Artesia Boulevard.
Owners of these facilities are currently facing administrative hearings and potential fines for violating state regulations.
“We take all community concerns seriously and the police department has received many complaints about selling illegal products about smoke shops in Redondo Beach. In response, we will continue to work with our state partners to enforce applicable laws protecting public health. The sale of illegal products will not be tolerated in Redondo Beach,” he also said that Redondo Beach City Council is considering updating existing ordinances related to operating and licensing smoke shops.
