The planned release of the MLK and RFK assassination files attracted renewed interest amid fallout from the widely panned release of the Epstein Files by the Department of Justice on Thursday evening.
It was expected that in accordance with President Donald Trump’s executive order in January, the proposed plan would be announced for the declaration of the JFK file of FEB. 7 to confidentialize files regarding the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy and civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., Director of National Intelligence (DNI), and the Governor of the Attorney.
Similarly, plans are expected to release RFK and MLK files along with the order on March 9th.

The deadline for release plans for RFK and MLK files comes just weeks after the Justice Department revealed a batch of Jeffrey Epstein files on Thursday, and many documents have already been announced in the federal criminal trial of Gislain Maxwell, the convicted accomplice of Epstein’s ex-love and convicted. The lack of new material has sparked criticism of the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein Files and questions about how RFK and MLK documents can be held.
“We expect the news to be there, but it’s not going to turn upside down what actually happened in those cases,” Gerald Posner, author of “Case Closad,” told Fox News Digital.
After committing to publishing Epstein-related documents earlier this week on Thursday afternoon, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy sent a fiery letter to FBI director Kash Patel, who accused federal agents of withholding thousands of pages of Epstein documents in New York.
“I repeatedly questioned whether this was the complete set of documents that corresponded to my request, and I was repeatedly assured by the FBI that I received the complete set of documents,” writes Bondi. “Late yesterday, I learned from a source that the FBI Field Office in New York owns thousands of pages of documents relating to Epstein’s investigation and prosecution.”

Bondi said he had previously requested the entire Epstein file before Patel confirming that he would lead the FBI last week, and received the file of about 200 pages.
“People’s expectations have been too high based on the executive order signed by the president,” Posner said in the release of the Epstein Files.
Bondi said the FBI never made it clear that these files exist and gave the agency a deadline of Friday morning for documents to be handed over.

“By 8am tomorrow, by February 28th, the FBI will deliver a complete and complete Epstein file to my office, including all records, documents, audio and video recordings, as well as all records, documents, audio and video recordings and materials relating to Jeffrey Epstein and his clients,” writes Bondi. “There are no withholding or restrictions on me or your access.”
“The FBI is entering a new era, defined by integrity, accountability and the pursuit of unwavering justice,” Patel wrote in a post on X on Thursday evening.

Patel said, “No concealment, missing documents, and stones remained, and everyone at the station before or present that was damaged will be pursued quickly. If there were gaps, they found them. If the records were hidden, they would be revealed.”
The FBI director also said the agency would bring “everything we found” to the DOJ and share information with the American public that “it should be.”

Trump initially had promised to release the final batch of documents during his first term, but such efforts eventually dissipated. Trump then blocked the release of hundreds of records on the assassination, following several CIA and FBI appeals.
