D-Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur on social media on Wednesday raised fire over comments considering he was “only 22 years” after questioning Doge Chief Elon Musk’s loyalty to the United States.
“Musk has now been in 22 years,” Kapter said Wednesday outside the Capitol. “And he’s a citizen of three countries. I always say when the push sticks out about the damage he’s doing here, which country is “South Africa? Canada? Canada? Or the US?”
Kaptor, who has served in Congress since 1983, denounced Captor for hypocrisy and elicited immediate criticism of social media from conservatives who use languages that are believed to have been used by Republicans.
“Like @Elonmusk, I have legally moved and pledged my full loyalty to America,” Ohio GOP Sen. Bernie Moreno posted on X. “But Democrats see us as cheap workers who choose crops and mow the lawn.

“Marcy Kapter (D-OH) is now a Nazivist when it comes to Elon Musk,” said Greg Price, the White House Rapid Response Team, on X.
The official quick response account for the White House was posted to X saying, “@Repmarcykaptur is currently questioning the loyalty of American citizens. This is a new low.”
“It’s really bad for Mercy Capter to say,” wrote David Williams, president of the Taxpayer Protection Union, to X. “Is she really saying this about immigration?
Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman posted on X that Kaptur’s comments were “a new tone for House Democrats.”
“Mercy Captor’s nasty remarks that question Elon Musk’s loyalty based on his immigration background expose the descent into the Democratic naturalist rhetoric – the very thing they claim to be against.”
“Their hypocrisy is clear. They defend open borders when they benefit them, but they resort to xenophobia attacks when immigrants do not match their political agenda.”
“Democrats aren’t just for immigrants,” National Review Editor Ramesh Ponnuru wrote to X.

“Is this an attack they want to make?!” Republican communicator Matt Whitlock was posted on X.
“Sorry, what?” McCarena Martinez, communications director for GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, said, “If Republicans say they’re going to cancel this.”
Kaptur, 78, previously signed accusing President Trump of alleged xenophobic comments in 2019.
“The resolution states that immigrants and their descendants are stronger in America and that naturalized citizens are Americans just as they are families who have been in the United States for generations,” the resolution states.

“It also expresses its commitment to keeping America open to those seeking refuge from violence and oppression, regardless of race, ethnicity, faith, or country of origin, and those willing to work hard to achieve their American dreams.”
Musk has continued to attract Democrats in recent weeks due to federal spending and cutting government programs. At the same time, polls suggest that most Americans agree to Doge’s mission.
