Exclusive: Rep. Thomas Massey accuss President Donald Trump of not reaching his campaign pledge on Saturday night strike in Iran.
“I feel a bit misunderstood,” Massey told Fox News Digital in an interview Sunday afternoon. “I didn’t think he would decide on his foreign policy on neocons and drag us into another war.”
“Others feel the same way and support Trump — I think the political danger for him is that he will induce some degree of indifference to Republican bases and they won’t show up to keep us in the mid-term.”
A conservative libertarian who has long been wary of foreign interventions by the US, Massey was one of the most vocal critics of the Trump administration’s recent operations.

The US stealth bomber attacked three major nuclear enrichment facilities in Iran on Saturday night.
Trump and other GOP leaders welcomed the operation as a victory, offering rare praise even among pro-Israel Democrats.
“Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility has completely disappeared,” Trump said Saturday night. “And now, Iran, a bully in the Middle East, must make peace, or future attacks will be much bigger and much easier.”
But progressive, the GOP’s growing isolationist wings blasted it as an unnecessary escalation of tensions in the Middle East when Israel was also involved in a week-long conflict with Iran.
The top official up to Trump himself says the US is not seeking war with Iran.
Vice President JD Vance told NBC News on “Meet the Press” Sunday, “We’re not a war with Iran. We’re fighting Iran’s nuclear program.”
Massy told Fox News Digital that these assurances are “silly.”

“He’s engaged in war. We are now co-married in a hot war between the two countries,” said the Kentucky Republican, claiming that the conflict would separate the action from Trump’s strike that killed the dead Iranian general, Kasem Soleimani.
“We can’t say this is not an act of war, it’s a strike other than war,” he said. “This is geographically and temporarily in the war.”
Kentucky Republicans have been broken from Trump, especially on several other occasions, and are one of the few GOP officials who have openly clashes with the president, particularly about government spending and foreign interventions.

He is co-led with d-calif MPs to prevent “US forces from unauthorized hostilities in Iran’s Islamic Republic” from introducing them days before the strike. Senator Tim Kane, D-Va. leads a counterpart in the Senate.
Massey said his team is considering ways to get a resolution on the floor of the house. Meanwhile, he acknowledged the possibility of opposition from pro-Israel groups and parliamentary leaders.
“We’re trying to use the privileges of our home to get this to the floor,” he said.
“People were saying, ‘Why did you introduce this resolution? The president has no intention of attacking Iran.’ He attacked Iran.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegses said in a press conference on Sunday morning that the administration and some conservatives accused him of bypassing comparable branches of the government, but the administration has properly notified Congress of strikes within existing law.
“They were notified after the plane went out safely,” Heggs said. “We have complied with the War Powers Act notice requirements.”
However, Massey said the law also requires Congress to vote for US military intervention in foreign countries within 60 days if the conflict continues.
“Even if we can avoid voting on the resolutions that Ro Khanna and I introduced, if this becomes a long-term involvement, we have to vote at some point,” he said.
After the law has been introduced to that committee, after 15 days of omission by the relevant committee, a resolution of war power can be called for a House vote.
When asked for comment, the White House threatened to call Fox News a digital, Trump’s latest truth social post, calling Massy a “ancestor” and recruiting major challengers against him.

“Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massey, despite his love of saying he is, is not a maga,” Trump wrote. “In fact, Maga doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, doesn’t respect him, he doesn’t respect him. He’s a negative force that almost always votes “no,” no matter how good it is. ”
“Maga should drop like this pathetic loser, Tom Massie, the plague! The good news is that there’s a great American patriot who runs over him in the Republican primary. I’m going out really hard in the Kentucky campaign.
