Rep. Ritchie Torres of Dn.Y., an outspoken anti-Semitism opponent, said Wednesday that those who refuse to oppose the heinous acts committed in Israel on October 7, 2023 “have no business” claiming that they are humanitarians.
“If you refuse to blame Hamas for murder, wounds, amputation, rape, torture and abduction of thousands of Jews and Israelis on October 7th, you have no business calling yourself a humanitarian,” Torres wrote in X.
“Humanitarianism, which neglects Jewish life, is not humanitarianism, because it is derived from anti-Semitism,” he added.

The lawmakers were strong voices of support for Israel.
“The singular stumbling block to end the war is a terrorist organization that started it in the wild. Hamas. The Israeli scapegoats have forgotten all of Hamas’ role in sedimenting and perpetuating the war,” Torres wrote earlier this month.

In another post on X this month, he said, “Anti-Semitism is the most deadly disease ever to torment the human mind.”
In a post last month, he said, “If Israel is the only country in the Middle East, if you highlight the world that reserves label “apartheid,” your use of terminology is probably not principled and propaganda, and your purpose is not a constructive criticism, but a destructive mandate of Israel as Israel. ”
