Rep. Thomas Massey told Fox News Digital Thursday morning that President Donald Trump targeted him for opposing government funding measures, which he was recently transported with a $261,000 campaign donation.
“Within three days I received $261,000 from a private donation of $3,203, without sending emails, texts or calls. This is my funding record and pushed my current cash up north of $1.1 million,” Massie said in a statement.
After Trump swings on Massy on the Truth Social Post Monday night, lawmakers responded in a tweet Tuesday by asking for a campaign donation.
“I portrayed my opponents in the last three primary who I knew I couldn’t run to my right, so they ran to my Trump,” Massey told Fox News Digital on Thursday.
“Absolutely, in each example, Kentucky voters rejected them because I have a decade in which I have consistently placed America and my members first. No one received more than 20% of the vote, but for example, they ran a great campaign with the resources needed to win. Massie pointed out about grassroots donations at X.

The amount of money that Rase reportedly rose since Massie tweeted on Wednesday that it reached $205,000.
“I received amazing support as I was attacked for voting for Biden – $-LevelCr. Massie said in a post on X on the @MassieForky campaign account on Wednesday.
In a previous post Wednesday, Massie said, “Y’all has sent $175,000 to the campaign in the last 36 hours! My first cash on hand is over $1,000,000. It’s a great start.
When someone from X asked Massey if he could spend the money on the Senate campaign, the lawmaker replied, “Yes, I can.”
The lawmaker, who has been in the U.S. House of Representatives for over 10 years, voted on his @Repthomassie X account last month. He asked if he was him, if he would run to the Senate in 2026, or if he would choose to run for governor in 2027.
With the prospect of a partial government shutdown approaching, Trump recently hit Massey, who declared his opposition to the government’s fundraising proposal.
“He should be primary and I will lead the charges against him,” Trump declared in a True Social Post Monday night. “He’s another ancestor, and the trouble is too big to be worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Cheney before his historical record-breaking (loss!), and the people of Kentucky don’t support it.
Massey says he’s “no” about the Trump-approved government funding measures: “Unless I get a lobotomy.”
Massie asked for a campaign contribution when she responded to Trump’s broadside.
“Why aren’t there more representatives standing in principle? Because telling the truth gets caught up in hot water. I need your help. I run again because at least one person in Congress won’t be a cave. Can you show support by contributing now?” Massy said in a tweet from her campaign account on Tuesday morning.
Trump targeted Massie again in a post Tuesday afternoon.
“”Rep.”Thomas Massey voted to vote from the Biden administration to the Trump administration (from September before the election to June after the election!) when he was able to get all that Republicans wanted without getting this horrible stupid move,” Trump argued.
“He further voted to delay the current budget disaster from the Biden administration to the Trump administration. I was in office at the time doing my thing, the president added.

“Now and virtually every other vote, he’s a very simple ‘no’. He is unable to even approve a continuing resolution when he approves them many times during his “representative” career. Thomas Massey is an ancestor, and the great people of Kentucky will be seeing a very interesting primary in the not too distant future! ”
Massy fired in the X post, labeling Trump’s true social post “misleading.”
“This tweet from Trump’s account is very misleading. I never voted for a CR that became law. I voted for CR under McCarthy, which includes an 8% reduction in all discretionary spending, but unfortunately CR did not become law.
Massey was ultimately the only Republican in the House to vote against passing Trump-backed government funding measures on Tuesday.
Trump later issued another attack on the heretics.
“So Massy can vote on debt caps and budgets, and be voted into the Trump administration, making it both a Republican issue and a responsibility, but “a great, big, beautiful bill?? Republicans say, ‘No votes, Grand Stander!” Trump declared early Wednesday in the Social Post of Truth.
Trump previously attacked Massey ahead of the 2020 GOP primary for Congressman, but Massey won the contest in Kentucky’s Fourth Congressional District, winning nearly 81% of the vote.
Trump approved Massey shortly before the 2022 primary election for lawmakers.
Massey won just 75% of the votes in the 2022 Republican primary, with three other candidates splitting the remaining votes, while incumbents scored just 76% in the 2024 primary, with two other candidates splitting the remaining votes.
