D-Va. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam of the group joined Tiktok’s “Aura Agriculture” trend, posting a clip of himself dancing solo on the Congressional subway, captioning “OMW to hold this administration accountable.”
In the short clip, subramanyam appears on the subway in sunglasses, striking poses and arm-waving Sangway before locking it to the camera.
Subramanyam’s “Aura Farming” appears to be backfiring, with some commenters calling it tone deafness, hypocritical, “frizzy.”
Left-leaning viewers, frustrated by the perceived inaction by Democrats under President Donald Trump, targeted VA-10 lawmakers in the comments section. One of Toprick’s comments asked, “By doing nothing…” Another reading, “The representative has to stop doing this. Do something in practice.”

Many commenters have linked this post to Subramanyam’s past voting records. For example, I included his controversial decision on his party a few weeks ago, not moving forward with the home-wrapped each resolution against Trump.
On June 24, 2025, Subramanyam voted for the table (i.e., the block) on a resolution to fire each President Trump over “high crimes and misdemeanors.” The resolution was introduced by Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, but was stopped by a majority of large homes.
A few comments made the tone and streaming of the video. One said, “-1000 Aura,” while another said, “Our taxpayer money is working so hard…”
The top comment simply read, “This feels strange IDK.”

A long reply said, “I’m not trying to be rude, but this sh- is less. Fires on the floor want to do outreach. But this isn’t the average American needs from their representatives now.
Another proposal proposed that “introduce new amendments to all of the tiktoks of Congress that require the sharing of three bills that work to limit the power of money in politics.”
Subramanyam, a former technology advisor to the Obama White House and the first South Asian to be elected to the Virginia Legislature, has gained a reputation as a more moderate Democrat. He won Virginia’s 10th District in 2024, and often plays the roots of immigration in his political message.

The popular “aura farming” trend among Gen Z and Gen Alpha refers to pulling away from the usually effortless and cool gestures while standing still. The current video of 11-year-old Indonesian boy, Reyan Arkan Dika, took off after dancing confidently with a stone face while wearing sunglasses on a racing boat.
Most “Aura Farming” clips on Tiktok are soundtracked to “Young Black & Rich” by Mary Mike.
