A Louisiana woman with a history of stealing “drug men” and credit cards was arrested after the death of a television reporter in New Orleans for the Super Bowl, police said Friday.
Hotel security footage showed Danet Colbert, who lives in nearby Slidell, entered the room at 4:35am Wednesday along with Adan Manzano of Kansas City Telemundo.
According to Conley, detectives arrive on Colbert’s trail after discovering that the credit card Manzano, who was checking Comfort Suites, was not in his body or in the hotel room.
Colbert continued to use Manzano credit cards “at several stores in the New Orleans area,” Kenner police said in a statement.
As of late Friday morning, Colbert said that “the investigation is continuing” only that he has been “accused of property crimes, including fraud and theft-related crimes,” according to a police statement.
Kenner police have not yet said how Manzano died.
“I asked if this was a murder, I don’t know where it’s going. We don’t speculate that the evidence leads us to the end result,” Conley said.
“As soon as the coroner finishes his discovery, they classify it as either a murder or death that evidence leads to him, they can upgrade these charges.”
The suspect “has arrest records including allegations of drug men, currency theft, fraudulent use of credit and debit cards, and other financial crimes,” Kenner police said. She calls her “investigator” for her involvement in these crimes.
Back in Nevada in 2022, police said Colbert was accused by the victim of “introducing substances, foreign substances” to the victim, Conley said.

KGKC confirmed Manzano’s death on Thursday, highlighting his professionalism and contribution to the local sports community.
“It is sad to share that Adan Manzano passed away yesterday in New Orleans,” the station said in a news release. “We are working with law enforcement in investigating this tragic event.”
KGKC described Manzano as “a true professional and upstart that exemplified the excellence of his work.” This was Manzano’s third straight season covering the TV station’s Super Bowl.
“We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports and the contribution he has made to the community,” the TV station said. “Our thoughts and sincere misery of dol’s meanness comes to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Originally from Mexico City, Manzano moved to Topeka, Kansas in 2018 and has been working at the Telemundo Affiliate Station since 2021.
