President Donald Trump led the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Monday, tapping airline executive Brian Bedford.

Bedford has been CEO of Republic Airlines, an Indiana-based regional airline, since 2007. In Monday’s Truth Social Post, Trump wrote that he was “pleasant” to announce Bedford’s appointment as FAA administrator.

“As former president and CEO of Republic Airlines, Mesava Airlines and Business Express Airlines, Brian brings more than 30 years of experience in this important position,” Trump’s post read.

Bedford must be confirmed by the US Senate before starting work with the FAA. The president also mentioned Transport Secretary Sean Duffy, noting that Bedford would work with him.

“Brian will work with our great Transport Secretary Sean Duffy to strongly reform the agency, protect exports and ensure the safety of nearly 1 billion passenger movements per year,” Trump’s post said. “Congratulations Brian!”

The recent announcement includes the Trump administration continuing to overhaul the FAA, laying off hundreds of workers in February. The agency attracted scrutiny after 67 people were killed after an airborne collision on the Potomac River at Reagan National Airport near DC on January 29th.

“We must have only the highest standards for people working in the aviation system,” Trump said at the time. “The best aptitude – you must be the best intelligence – and psychologically excellent people have been granted the qualification of air traffic controllers.”

Following Trump’s announcement on Bedford, he also appointed a new appointee to serve on the Military Academy Committee.

President Donald Trump nominated Brian Bedford as the FAA leader on March 17th.

“Our great US Air Force Academy will soon be filled with incredible visitors consisting of Doug Nicolai, Dan Clarke, Senators Tommy Tuberville, Charlie Kirk and Dina Powell. Congratulations,” Trump wrote.

“We are pleased to complete our list of appointments to the U.S. Naval Academy and announce that the full board consists of Sean Spicer, Walt Nauta, Rep. Ronnie Jackson, Rep. Derek Van Order, Sen. Tim Sheehee and Earl Aheart,” the president added. “congratulations!”

Trump has also been appointed as a new member of the US military academy on the West Point Visitors Committee.

“Major General David Beravia, Lt. Gen. Dan Walras, General Michael Flynn, Rep. Wesley Hunt, Maureen Bannon and Meghan Mobbs have been appointed to the board,” Trump said. “They will be proud of our country. Congratulations everyone!”

In another Monday post, Trump declared that April 2 will be observed as America’s liberation day.
