First Fox: Republican lawmakers are moving to block the nation from allowing people who illegally come to the United States to become police officers.
R-FLA Rep. Kat Cammack introduced the bill this week to stop federal funding for law enforcement agencies employing illegal immigrants as officers.
“My husband, Matt, he serves our community as first responders, firefighters and as a SWAT medic, so we have a really close relationship with the law enforcement community, and it’s really frustrating to see the challenges they’ve had over the past decade.”
As the house probe gets hot, he says “I never worried” about Biden’s mental state before.

“And as you know, being conservative, we’ve seen the whole rebate police move, and that’s scary because now the department is trying to hire illegals to hire an off-corporate, because of the retention and recruitment challenges as a result of boring leftist actions.”
In addition to blocking police station funds, if illegal immigrants are hired as police officers, the bill requires that only U.S. citizens can serve as law enforcement officers.
It comes after immigrants and customs enforcement (ICE) arrested a Jamaican citizen who allegedly tried to illegally purchase firearms while working as a reserve police officer in Maine.

Federal officials say John Luke Evans overstayed his visa after legally entering the United States in 2023. He said he wanted to buy firearms in relation to his law enforcement role.
Old Orchard Beach Police Department Chief Elisechaard said Evans was exempt from working in May this year by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-verify system.
DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told local outlet WMTW that the department’s “reckless reliance on electronic verification” did not “exempt” it from its “legal obligation to verify documentation certification.”

Meanwhile, several states, including California, Illinois and Colorado, have laws that allow non-citizens with work permits, such as DACA recipients, to become police officers.
Deferred actions for the Childhood Arrival (DACA) policy will be brought illegally to the United States as children from deportation and protect those who otherwise would not have legal status.
