Republican Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona also playfully said he would oppose the bill.

“That was three days before the government shutdown. And I’m at my desk, page 54 of this 1,547-page mess. CR is garbage. It’s full of carnage. I’m a firm no, there. I’m not going to stoop so low,” he tweeted.

Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde of Georgia called the measure a “Christmas cramnibus,” and Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of the Peach State called it “a lump of Christmas CR coal.” .

Rep. Nancy Mace (RS.C.) also voiced her opposition, saying, “I got the word on this CR. No.”

“Many of the most vocal and self-styled @DOGE heroes in Congress will vote for CR, even if it ignores everything @DOGE is trying to fix and Republicans lashed out during this year’s campaign. Despite trying to perpetuate the very problems they denounced, “Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said in a post to ‘Yes!’

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswami to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which advocates for eradicating government waste and cutting spending. They said in a Wall Street Journal article last month that they “are not federal employees or employees, but serve as outside volunteers.”

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., tweeted: “Look at the congressmen who went all in on @DOGE to get media attention and then vote for a short-term omnibus. They’re a swamp. ” he tweeted.

Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, argued in favor of approval of the proposal, which includes billions of dollars in disaster relief, according to a press release.

“Although continuation of the resolution is not ideal, this strategy ensures that President Trump has a say in shaping the final bill for FY25. Importantly, a large amount of money is required to handcuff the new administration to its inauguration.” “It would avoid a costly government shutdown,” Cole said. Go to press release.

“At the same time, we cannot ignore the devastation caused by natural disasters across the country,” he pointed out. “This bill will provide critical relief to Americans recovering from these disasters, including my home state of Oklahoma, and will also provide economic benefits to our nation. We have a responsibility to help rebuild and recover, and this bill demonstrates our common resilience and unity in the face of tragedy. ”

Elon Musk also issued his own verdict on the proposal and expressed his opposition.

“This bill should not be passed,” he declared in a post to X.

“Have you ever seen a bigger pork?” he wrote in another post, as he shared a photo of the first page of the bill (possibly the rest of the 1,500-plus page document) sitting on top of a towering pile of documents. asked:

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) addressed Musk’s disapproval on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning, saying he spoke to both Musk and Ramaswamy via text message. “They said, ‘Mr. Speaker, this is not directed at you, but we don’t like this spending bill.’ They said, ‘You know what, folks, I don’t like it either. Here’s the thing. We have to end this because it’s the key.’ So we’re cleaning everything up and preparing for Trump to come back with an America First agenda.”
