According to the San Diego Fire Rescue, a military fighter plane with two service members on board struck San Diego Bay near Shelter Island on Wednesday.
According to SDFD, rescuers responded around 10:15am and reported that a military plane with two service members on board had hit the water.

Both service members were conscious when they were pulled out of the water, Urshitti said. They were transferred to a US customs and border security vessel and taken to the dock where they were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, SDFD said.
The extent of their injuries was not revealed, but the military said their condition was stable.

At 6pm the evening of the crash, Navy officials provided an update and said that both airmen were in good condition but would be monitored 24 hours a day from abundant attention.
The Navy also found an underwater collision site, saying the port’s security boats were on the scene and crews were working to minimize environmental impacts from fallen aircraft.
“The public reminds us not to approach, touch or collect any debris that may be washed,” a Navy news release said. “Anyone encountering a piece of an aircraft should report it to local government or call Navy Base Coronado.”
Military officials did not provide the cause of the crash, but they said an investigation was underway and an update would be provided as the event was guaranteed.
