A $10,000 reward has been announced in an investigation into the murder of a woman shot while driving in Los Angeles’ Gramercy Park area.
The family of 21-year-old Lanai Dees announced their compensation to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office investigators at a press conference Thursday. I got a photo of the Death and a video of the SUV being sought in connection with crime.
Dees of Inglewood was fatally shot in the 2000 block of West Century Boulevard on the block of West Century Boulevard on November 17, 2024 at about 12:40am. She was driving a white Mercedes-Benz West on Century Boulevard when she was hit in the head with a gunshot from inside the SUV.
Dees’ car continued west after the shooting, crashing into concrete stairs in alleys at the South and South Gramercy locations of the century. Nursing student Dees was found in the car and died at the scene.
Dees’ mother Darling spoke at a press conference on Thursday.
“It’s hard to know that you’re going to pass her room every day and not come out and say ‘Good morning, mom’,” she said.
Los Angeles County is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in the case.
Her brother, Jordan Dees, urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Call the detective,” Jordan Dees said. “My sister was amazing. She was sweet, kind and loving. I really love her. These people have changed the lives of my family.
“She had a very bright smile. She could draw. She could sing a little. She was just starting nursing school. She was glued to our family. She kept us all together.”
Anyone with information about the shooting death was asked to call the Sheriff’s Murder Bureau at 323-890-5500. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
