Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Wednesday that state National Guard members have been prepared to work with Ice, citing mutual aid permission from the Pentagon reported by the Quad City Times.
Reynolds, a Republican, said the Iowa State Guard is ready to deploy members to support administrative and administrative functions, although no mission orders have been received from Arlington.

Reynolds told reporters that she was one of the most recent calls to Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem on Cedar Rapids.
“What we really saw is logistics and processing is probably how we look to help from a state perspective,” Reynolds said.
According to DHS, the National Guard is permitted to detain ice attackers.
She added that the number of states potentially associated with servicemember numbers has not yet been determined.
“We’ve been stepping up and helping, and we’ve said we haven’t yet confirmed anything, but we’re … considering helping in some way what we can,” she said in a comment aired on KCCI.

Escucha Mi Voz, a faith-based, immigration-led community organization, told the network that the deployment of the National Guard against immigrant communities is “morally vulnerable and a widespread violation of civil liberties and constitutional rights.”
National security guards from five states – Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Virginia, Georgia and Florida, have also received orders to help ICE implement “alien disposal,” according to a memo obtained by the New York Times.
