Riverside County small businesses suffer as Amazon delivery suspension – NBC Los Angeles

While some Riverside County neighbors continue to wonder when their Amazon packages will arrive at their homes, one small business owner said Wednesday that the e-commerce giant’s delivery suspension has disrupted the particularly busy season. said their lives during the holiday season have been seriously affected.

Randy Parker, owner of Mr. Happy’s Mercantile, a novelty gift shop in Anza, said he is one of many people in the area chasing after Amazon delivery drivers. Amazon stopped delivering products to homes and stores in Anza for about a month, telling customers to pick up their items at fire stations or post offices instead.

“You’re told the package is on its way, but you don’t hear anything else,” Parker said, adding that he and others can’t use Amazon’s app or tracker to guess where the delivery driver is. He added that he has to rely on Facebook groups instead. “Where are you this time? Where can I find you?”

Parker and others in Anza, a small community of fewer than 5,000 people, said they rely heavily on online ordering and delivery.

“Initially, we were receiving packages from UPS and USPS,” he said. “About a month ago, Amazon delivery services took over our trucks and our own drivers.”

Parker and other Amazon customers in Anza said they have not received an explanation as to why deliveries suddenly stopped.

“Some packages have been marked as undeliverable due to weather or traffic hazards. The weather has been sunny for the last month, with no sign of rain,” Parker explained.

Even if you are lucky enough to track down the delivery driver, there is no guarantee that your package will be on the truck.

“I’m paying to have it delivered to my door. I have to track down the driver,” said one person at a fire station, waiting for an Amazon delivery person.

In the information vacuum from Amazon, Anza customers began speculating that third-party vendors who deliver Amazon orders were involved in this. They claimed they had never had problems with deliveries until Temecula came on board.

NBC Los Angeles has not received a response from the companies in question, and Amazon did not respond to inquiries other than to say it is investigating.
