A man who police claimed to have tried to steal a marijuana clinic in Southgate was fatally shot dead on Wednesday, and detectives were investigating the situation surrounding the shooting.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, Southgate Police Department officials responded to the 5800 block of Imperial Highway, west of Balkan Street, at 11:10pm Tuesday.
They found an employee in front of the clinic and he told them the man tried to take the business, he shot a suspicious robber, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Police found another man in the clinic suffering from a bullet wound. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics at the Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to steven De Jong during Lasd Formicide.
Two firearms were recovered at the scene, according to LASD. The Sheriff’s Department is assisting Southgate police in the investigation.
