Items worth over $30,000, including popular luxury toys, have been stolen from the Lapuente Shop, which specializes in collectable items.
Surveillance video of the store revealed that at least four people broke in and looted the store early on Wednesday morning to steal a love bus.
The Labubus is a trendy collectible popular with people of all ages, and comes in several rare or limited edition versions, each selling for a few hundred dollars.
According to the owner, the thief who enters after breaching the front door appears to be targeting valuable toys.
“We live in Tiktok. We are on Instagram. People know we are here,” said Joanna Avendano, who owns the shop.
All cameras except one security camera in the store have been removed, but Avendano said he has “gut sensations” to watch the video when he wakes up Wednesday.
“I checked my phone and they were really about to enter the store. I saw them all alive when they were here,” she said.
It took about 15 minutes for deputies from the LA County Sheriff’s Office to accommodate her business after she reported the robbery, Avendano said.
“They were only aiming for Lovebus,” she explained. “I know because they took in the most valuable things. They left something that wasn’t really popular.”
Avendano, who was there for two months, said the robbery was devastating to her business and finances.
“It took us a long time to build this business. We also spent a lot of money on all our inventory,” she said. “It’s sad to see people coming in and stole ours.”
