Los Angeles authorities said they arrested 29 more people overnight in fire zones, including one robbery suspect who was allegedly dressed as a firefighter.
Officials said 25 of those arrested were in the Eaton fire zone and four were in the Palisades fire zone.
“There are people who will stop at nothing to get what they want to do,” Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said of the man who broke into the home wearing a fire jacket and helmet.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest of suspects dressed as firefighters, including a man driving a truck in the Palisades area. The other suspect was found inside the vehicle. The men pretended to be from the fire department, but a quick check with the department revealed they were not, officials said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said those arrested were not from the area and some were in possession of firearms and drugs.
There were about 20 similar arrests early last week.
A curfew remains in effect in fire zones, and the National Guard and police continue to patrol these areas.
