Rooftop Homeless Camp at LA Terrorizing Doctor’s Office

Doctors in the South Central area of Los Angeles County call it quits after fighting years of fighting a rooftop homeless camp that has constantly terrified her and her employees.

Dr. Tahani Soliman owns a building where he practices at the corner of Rugby and Zoe Avenue in Huntington Park.

The multi-level parking garage next to her practice is reportedly a hub for people who can easily access the roof, camp out, steal electricity, scrap metal from the air conditioning unit and start a fire.

Doctors told KTLA that she estimated she spent more than $100,000 on repairs, and that she spent it on deterrents such as barbed wire and fences that homeless people simply destroy.

“We live in hell,” Soliman said. “They ruined my roof. I have to turn on new roofs and electricity from the air conditioner. I have to replace them all.”

For years, the rooftop homeless camp in Huntington Park has terrified the care of nearby doctors. On Tuesday, Los Angeles Fire Station crews put out the flames on the rooftop of the parking lot, but it wasn’t the first time. Gabby Rodriguez, who works for Dr. Soliman, said another fire broke out in the same location in 2023.

It was a firefighter who told the doctors and her staff that the homeless people lived above the parking lot.

“A “violent, unplanned, unplanned rape scene” at the heart of the lawsuit against Kevin Costner

“We ended up putting up a fence with barbed wire. They knocked it down,” Rodriguez said. “We put the cages around the AC units and knocked them down.”

Rodriguez said Huntington Park police said there was not much they could do about the issue and they are calling on the office to seek assistance.

Dr. Soliman said he was angry and unhappy with her lack of support for her business, staff and patients, and that she was enough.

“There is no protection for my employees, my patients and tenants,” she told KTLA. “That’s why I’m going to retire. This is why I lost everything.”

The KTLA contacted Huntington Park city officials who said they would investigate the situation.
