Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that he is currently a deputy director of the US International Development Organization (USAID).
Rubio told the reporters while asking questions from the media of El Salvador.
“The USAID is not working. It needs to be consistent with US policies. It must match the national interests,” he said. “They are not a global charity group, a taxpayer’s dollar. People are asking simple questions. What are they doing with money? We spend money on taxpayers. Taxpayers guarantee that they promote national interests. ”

“I’m an acting director,” he confirmed when he was asked if he was currently in charge. “Our goal was to allow foreign aid for national interests. 20 or 30 years have passed. They tried to reform it, not continuing.”
After Eulon Musk announced that President Donald Trump had agreed to close his institution, the USAID staff was instructed to leave Washington headquarters early on Monday. Thousands of USAID employees were already fired and the program was closed.
