FOX First: Newly appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio is recommending that the department halt refugee resettlement operations and increase screening of visas from certain regions in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order. There is.

President Trump’s Executive Order on Refugees further states that “The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security may jointly decide, on a case-by-case basis and in their discretion, to admit aliens to the United States as refugees; “Limited to the extent possible.” We determine that the admission of such aliens as refugees is in the national interest and does not pose a threat to the safety or welfare of the United States. ”
Rubio is the first member of Trump’s cabinet to be confirmed, with the Senate unanimously voting to approve him on Monday night.
