Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to the Middle East for several days starting next week for his second trip as Chief of the State Department.
Rubio will visit Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia after attending a Munich security conference in Germany, Fox News confirmed Thursday.
The itinerary has not yet been released, but Rubio’s impending visit to the Middle East is a crucial part of foreign policy as Israel and Hamas implement a three-stage ceasefire agreement after 16 months of war in Gaza. It’s coming at an important time.
Rubio said at a joint press conference held in the Dominican Republic with President Louis Abinader on Thursday that President Donald Trump offered to be part of the solution to rebuild Gaza.

Trump on Wednesday proposed that the US control the Gaza Strip to rehabilitate the territory into a more lively location, as most areas have been thinned out and millions have been evacuated.
White House press chief Caroline Leavitt told reporters Wednesday that under Trump’s proposal, Palestinians will “temporarily” move to level and restructure.

The Secretary of State said he believes Trump proposed the idea of a Gaza acquisition in the hopes of gaining responses from a country that “has the economic and technical capabilities to contribute to post-conflict regions.”
As of Friday morning, no other countries had spoken about potential plans to rehabilitate Gaza.
