DeMille Halliburton established a running club 10 years ago to attract residents of the South Los Angeles area.
On Saturday, he and several club members called for the end of an attack by federal agents who had disturbed the lives of immigrants, including hundreds of other Angelenos, runs with ice and the city centre.
“We’re always trying to find a way to share what’s going on in the country right now, how upset we’re about what’s going on in the country right now,” said Halliburton, 61. “As ample enough.”
Runners jogged 15 miles of neighbourhoods important to assaults and immigrants from streets lined with sidewalk vendors in Koreatown and MacArthur Park, and expressed a mix of anger, heartache and rebellion from the streets lined with streets trapped in Dodger Stadium, Chinatown, the fashion district, and the historic centres, where they were trapped.

Gabriel Golden, a member of the Halliburton running club, said he feared that L.A. and the country have reached a boiling point due to the aggressive nature of the attack and what is considered Latinx racial profiling like himself by federal agents identifying targets for detention and deportation.
“It was horrifying and unacceptable,” said Golden, 42, a musician. “One of the first attacks was due to Home Depot, where I work near MacArthur Park.”
He personally has not been affected by the attack, but he said Golden is a US citizen who is a half-gatemaran and feels an obligation to stand up for the detained people and their loved ones, informing them that they are not alone.
Friends and colleagues ask how he is doing and encourage him to carry his passport wherever he goes to prove he is a citizen. However, Golden refuses to do it from principle.

After Dodger Stadium, the runners passed Chinatown and towards City Hall, resting again in front of the iconic building, stretching for a long time into the fashion district and the canopy market on Olympic Boulevard.

Merchants sold piñatas, street food and aqua frescas to take photos of runners and cheer them on. The runners stopped traffic and the driver took part in the celebration and assisted the corner.
The final stretch passed through a detention centre that became almost sacred to protesters and vigils who protested here, including SEIU labor organizations, immigration rights advocates and faith leaders who joined forces to plan the order.
The day before, on July 4th, ICE had continued its ongoing operation, rounding up more than 1,600 to date for Southern California’s deportation.
In West Hollywood, video footage broadcast by NBC 4-la showed bulletproof vest ice agents in Santa Palm Car Wash on Friday morning. Two other workers told The Times that two people who have worked in car washes for decades have been taken into custody.

Federal agents detained a food vendor in front of a target on Eagle Rock Boulevard on Friday, according to a video shared on Sheen’s social media. On Saturday’s run, Laura Solis said she was hit by all those who yelled “Thank you” as she, her 16-year-old daughter and other exhausted runners passed the route.

“Thank you,” said Solis, 38, a resident of Torrance, as she stared at her thin prison windows towards the impressive stone facade of the detention center. “I feel a bit uncomfortable with my body. It doesn’t compare to the pain these people there are going through. That’s their crime.”
